Laura Macmillan

Laura is the founding member of Korda String Quartet and is delighted to take over the management of the group from fellow founder Katie Jackson. Laura has a wealth of experience in the wedding and entertainment industry and can be on hand to help with any planning needs from initial enquiry right through to the event itself.

Two top career highlights:

“As well as playing for Korda String Quartet, my absolute musical passion is playing in bands.  My number 1 highlight to date has to be going on tour with Elvis Costello as support with Ian Prowse.  The whole experience was mind blowing and so powerful as it was just before lockdown started.

Another highlight has to be performing in Sefton Park, Liverpool to 32,000 people with Kaleidoscope Orchestra and DJ’s K-Klass as part of Cream Classical. What a joy it was to see so many happy people dancing around and loving music – that’s what it’s all about for me as a performer – pure enjoyment!”

Musical Inspiration:

“My Mum! She was a dedicated choral director and I joined her in rehearsals from a very young age!”

What’s on your playlist?:

“I will listen to ANYTHING. I have quite an eclectic taste in music and love writing out popular tunes for String Quartet – mainly so I can dance along! At the moment, I’m working my way back through the Oasis albums – I’ve always been a huge fan of the Manchester music scene. However I do have to confess my guilty pleasure is dance classics from the 90’s!”
